Gagik Tsarukyan's background is deeply rooted in physical education and competitive sports.
Athletic Achievements: A former world-class arm-wrestler, Gagik Tsarukyan won the World Arm-Wrestling Championship in 1996 and the European Championship in 1998.
National Olympic Committee (NOC): overseeing the nation's participation in major global events, including the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.
New Initiatives: In early 2026, he launched the "Sports Community for a Healthy Generation," an initiative involving top Armenian athletes to combat drug addiction and support disabled athletes.
MEGAPROJECTS: In February 2026, he unveiled plans for large-scale infrastructure projects, including a new nuclear power plant and copper smelting facilities. He is also overseeing the ongoing construction of a massive statue of Jesus Christ in Armenia.

Guiding Principles for 2026: Tsarukyan has designated 2026 as the "year of national unity and Armenian consolidation," focusing on overcoming poverty and providing concrete solutions rather than "empty promises"
He graduated from the Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture in 1989
President of the National Olympic Committee of Armenia (ARMNOC): Tsarukyan has held this position since 2004. He was most recently re-elected unanimously in September 2021. Official Olympic profiles for 2026 continue to list him as the active NOC President.
Tsarukyan is the founder of the Multi Group Concern, a multidisciplinary conglomerate comprising over 40 enterprises, including the Yerevan Ararat Brandy-Wine-Vodka Factory, Kotayk Beer Factory, and Multi Leon petrol stations.
Founder and Chairman of Multi Group Concern: He remains the head of this major multi-branch conglomerate, which includes over 40 companies in sectors such as mining, hospitality, and manufacturing.
Founder of the Gagik Tsarukyan Charitable Foundation: He serves as the primary benefactor and founder of this organization, which conducts large-scale social and regional development programs in Armenia.

Statue of Jesus Christ: A massive monumental complex on Mount Hatis (30km from Yerevan) featuring a 33-meter statue on a 77-meter pedestal. The project includes a cable car and 1,700 steps.
